How does the vermicomposter
According to the inscription on the title photo, it may seem that now we are going to study how the cafe is arranged. But no! It will be not really a cafe and not for people.

Meet Vermicomposter. Cafe for worms.
This simple thing allows you to feed organic waste to the worms and get fertilizer from it for your plants.
Since I was already shown an operating vermicomposter (it has been in operation for about 10 years in various conditions), then it looked a bit shabby.
When you open the lid, there was no smell. After some time, the humidity in the room increased. It became stuffy.
In the ground lay the packaging from under the eggs, the peel of a banana and something else. In appearance, of course, not very, but I did not feel any unpleasant smell. Only the smell of the earth.
Now let's see how the vermicomposter is made and how to exploit it.
The lowermost compartment is on the legs (they are removed) and has a spade. Liquid will accumulate in the compartment - vermichay.It can be used as a liquid fertilizer for plants, having previously diluted with water 1 to 10.
A tray with holes is placed on top, through which vermicai will flow into the lowest compartment.
Add some earth to the tray and pour out the worms. We add waste from above, preferably on the one hand, so that later it would be easier to understand whether the worms processed organic matter or not.
We cover the tray with a blanket to preserve moisture and from a sharp temperature drop. And close the lid. In the photo there is no cover, because Vermicomposter stood in a wet room.
After they have recycled everything on one side, you can put the waste on the other half.
Gradually the volume of the tray will increase. When the tray is almost full, you can take a new one and put it on top.
We also add land and waste to the tray. Cover with a veil and a lid (the same ones). Since in the trays there are holes, then the worms themselves after some time will move to the upper tray. The main thing is that the bottom of the upper tray touches the ground in the tray below it.
For prevention once a month, the upper tray can be sprinkled with dolomite or slaked lime.
When all the worms will move to the top tray in 2 weeks - 1 month.You can remove the middle tray and the ground (vermicompost) from it to use as fertilizer.
So, rearranging the trays, you can get rid of organic waste.
A few more moments on the operation of the Vermicomposter:
Vermicomposter is desirable to use at temperatures of 15-25 degrees, i.e. leave on the street in the winter does not work, just as under the summer sun;
Vermicomposter has ant protection;
Worms do not like onions.

Vermicomposter is often bought for schools as a visual sample of how to deal with organic waste.
