Walk along the street and get acquainted with its sights, find out how she looked before. The street is not often found in guidebooks, and if it does, it is due to the two most famous monuments - the Musin-Pushkin House and Yelokhovsky Cathedral, and meanwhile, there are several more objects worthy of attention on it.

Spartakovskaya Street got its name in 1919 according to the German revolutionary organization Spartak, and initially it was part of Pokrovskaya Street, from the 19th century this part began to be called Elokhovskaya, which was located in the village of Elokh.
It is believed that the name comes from the word "eloha" - alder, which grew in abundance along the banks of the Olkhovets brook, which flows past the village. I.E. Zabelin, finding out the origin of his name, indicated that it was usually applied to the definition of “wet swampy place”.
According to the most common version, the village of Yelokh has been known since 1389, and the first mention of it is found in the spiritual diploma of Prince Dimitri Donskoy. Past this village in the XIV-XV centuries, the road passed to the country palace, built by Prince Mikhail Fedorovich in the village of Rubtsov.

Another beautiful legend associated with this village, says that St. Basil the Blessed was born here. Here is how Romanyuk writes about this "The village of Yeloh is famous for being the birthplace of St. Basil the Blessed, Christ for the holy fool and miracle worker who was not afraid to expose even Tsar Ivan the Terrible himself. He was born a holy fool in 1469, in 1552 his burial was performed with great honors, Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich carried the coffin with the boyars, and the rite of burial was performed by Metropolitan Macarius. Since then, the Trinity Church Bt is often called St. Basil's Cathedral. "
Unfortunately, both of these versions are not supported by written sources.
For the first time, the village was mentioned in written sources in 1694, at that time it was part of the village of Pokrovsky (formerly Rubtsova), and the Church of the Epiphany was one of the 4 churches of this village. In the 80s of the XVIII century, with the gradual expansion of the village of Pokrovsky, the village of Elokho (Elokhovo) or Yelokhovskaya settlement was separated from it, as it was called.
Spartakovskaya Street begins from Razgulay Square, the name is given by the tavern that was located here, and ends at the modern Baumanskaya (German) Street.

I will cite only some photos of the house in detail and complement the story with what was not included at that time.
An incredible amount of legends related to the warlock Bruce and the treasures hidden by him (he actually had no relation to the house, although he was married to one of the relatives of Musin-Pushkin) went about the house for a long time. She was found in Soviet times, but she was empty.

An elegant semi-rotunda with an Ionic colonnade is inscribed in the cut-off corner of the house, facing Yelokhovskaya Square.

In 1835 the building was given to the 2nd Moscow Gymnasium. After the revolution, it housed the House of the Red Army, then the Industrial-Pedagogical Institute named after K. Liebknecht. For him in 1930the main house of the estate was built on another floor. And since 1943 Moscow Engineering and Construction Institute named after V.V. Kuibyshev.
Interesting memories of the interior decoration of the student’s home at IISH are given here - “I remember the beautifully preserved twisted main staircase and sculptures under two meters high - Venus and Apollo”.
Another story told by Al. Dedushkin, he writes - "In 1955, when the IISS was already located here, VS Vysotsky entered here, but on New Year's Eve in 1956 he filled in the examination drawing and ... at this his studies at IISS ceased."

House №2к2- the manor had several wings, this is the Northern wing, photos of Nadvorny and Yuzhniy can be viewed here.

Here is how the historian and local historian describes this estate. Moscow expert P.V. Sytin - “At the end of the XVIII century, half of Elokhovskaya (Spartakovskaya) street on an even side occupied a huge possession of Countess Musina-Pushkina, which stretched to Pleteshkovsky Lane. It was occupied by wooden buildings, a garden, a pond and meadows along the there was a wooden Ehalov bridge. "
The garden was alive and at the time of the 2nd gymnasium, it reached Pleteshkovsky Lane, where the lane makes a zigzag, S.N. Durylin writes about it in his book In his Corner.

Behind this Northern wing is another building, with it a complete mess. Now he has a single room with the main house of the usalb (d.2k1). On the site here, he, along with the main house, built as it is known at the end of the 18th century, is listed for some reason as a building of 1848; XX century, together with the main house was built on another floor.

This building was erected on the site of the former estate garden.

House number 2a. In the Soviet years, the rest of the garden gradually began to be built up. In the 1930s for the Industrial and Pedagogical Institute. Karl Liebknecht built a house in the style of constructivism. The building was built according to the project of architect M. L. Kruglov, a member of the association of new architects (ASNOVA). established in 1923 by VHUTEMAS professors and uniting talented young people in their ranks.
Later it housed the "All-Union Planning Academy named after VM Molotov."

It is summer now, the whole building is covered with trees, therefore its modern appearance was removed only from this angle.

The house is L-shaped and from the yard looks very menacing.

An interesting story associated with this building of the Academy. Molotov, written by one of the residents of the house, standing opposite, read here, here is what she writes - "And we lived opposite, on Spartakovskaya in house 5 and around 1972 - 73m KGBs came to us and put something like binoculars and several days came to watch from our window on this building. I was about 5 ... That's how they followed the planners. ".
House number 4c1.Opposite this building of the Academy is also an end to Spartakovskaya Street. another old apartment house has been preserved, or rather only its front wall.

In the 2000s, the house was reconstructed and from the courtyard side it now looks like this.

The fate of the house is unclear, neither the architect nor the year of construction is known.

This site in 1901. Anisimova Ekaterina Yulianovna, the wife of a lieutenant colonel, and in 1917 according to the directory "All Moscow" Sokolova Elizaveta Ivanovna.
It is interesting that when I wrote this post in 2012 in the "List of Cultural Heritage Objects of the City of Moscow" another one is listed on the same site.house number 4as a declared object of cultural heritage and it was listed as "the main house of the urban manor from 1817 - 1822". During the reconstruction of the apartment building, the main house of the city manor was apparently demolished. But, interestingly, on the 1952 plan, in this place, two houses are marked behind the “income worker”, one corner and next to it are rectangular, and so a transformer box now stands in the place of a rectangular house, but its appearance is not quite normal.

Especially from the opposite side. Perhaps this is the rebuilt old building of the rectangular house on the territory of the former manor.

The last photo of the house is completely bad, but it shows a preserved dormer window on the roof and windows at ground level, which can confirm its antiquity.

Thanks to the old photograph of the 1940s, two more houses can be seen standing on the same site earlier. Nothing is known about these buildings either.
