Ust-Katavsky ironworks was founded in the second half of the 18th century. The exact date of the foundation raises questions of historians, but the date of foundation of the joint venture Ya.B. In Ust-Katav there were molotovye factories with 4 horn horn and 5 hammers.A sawmill, a mill and a carpentry workshop were located in the Ust-Katavsky plant. There was here and a small shipyard for the construction of barges kolomenok with its anchor workshop. Probably, all this was rotated by at least 10 powerful top-end water wheels.

In 1898, the government-run Ust-Katavsky Zavod sold the South Ural anonymous metallurgical society founded by the Belgians. The Belgians completely reconstructed the plant for the production of railway cars. All production was electrified, introduced the latest innovations of the organization of labor. The main products of the plant are heavy cars.

In 1901, the Ust-Katavsky Carriage Works produced the first trams for Tiflis and Ekaterinodar. In the 20s and 30s, the UKVZ makes various parts for wagons. In 1926, the production of trams was resumed. During the war years, the Ust-Katavsky plant produced defense products. The facilities of the Bryansk and Stalingrad artillery factories are being evacuated here. In the 50s, the plant already began to produce trams in serial production and in the year 59, the USVZ was appointed the head enterprise for the production of trams. Here is organized a special design office for the design of tram rolling stock.

By the way, not only trams were produced at Ust-Katavskiy car-building plant, but also other equipment, for example, in the early 1960s. also here are such buses.

Currently, the plant produces low-floor tram cars of various modifications of models 71-623 and 71-631. In 2006, the first partially low-floor articulated tram car 71-630 was released (entered for testing in Moscow). In 2009, two partially low-floor unilateral single-section wagons 71-623 were produced, which were put to the test in Ufa and Nizhny Novgorod. In 2010, the trams of this model arrived in Moscow, Perm, Nizhnekamsk and Krasnodar. The plant also produces spare parts for manufactured tram equipment and provides after-sales service for trams.
In addition to trams, the plant manufactures gas control equipment, pipe fittings, pumps, and consumer goods.
